Minarik was a two-way end in football at Michigan State University. He was chosen to play in 1951 College All-Star game against the Cleveland Browns. Minarik was named to several All-American teams and played in the 1950 North-South Shrine Game. In 1951, he was drafted in the second round by the Pittsburgh Steelers and named the team’s Rookie of the Year. Hank also was All-State in football at Central High in 1945.
