LaSalle, a multi-talented star at St. Michael High, earned 11 varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball. In 1941, he was named to All-City football team. LaSalle compiled a 9-0 record on the City Baseball League championship team of 1947. He pitched for the Flint Eagles and the Flint Blue Devils semi-professional baseball teams and hurled the Flint Fireman to the AAA softball championship in 1941.
