Hoyes has been part of the area sports scene for more than 50 years as a longtime sportswriter for The Flint Journal. Perhaps more knowledgeable than anyone of area sports, he covered everything on a variety of levels from high schools through professional. He was The Journal’s first sportswriter to chronicle the Flint Olympian and CANUSA Games and has been honored for his contributions to those events.
