A fixture in high school athletics for 50 years, Ethier was a charter member of the board of directors for the Flint Area Parochial Conference, which he served as league president and business manager. He coached all sports at St. Mary’s High including baseball for several seasons in the 1940’s when he would not accept compensation in order to help the program survive financial problems. He received numerous plaques and awards for his contributions.
