Cole served for 33 years in the Flint Community School System, most of that time as a consultant in recreation. As Flint Baseball Commissioner, he oversaw a program that grew to 6,500 participants in the youth program and 45 adult-age teams. Cole pitched Western Michigan University into the College World Series while compiling a 14-3 record during the 1951 and ’52 seasons. He was inducted into the WMU Hall of Fame in 1989.
