To the world, Mateen Cleaves is a college basketball icon. He’s a living legend at Michigan State University for leading the Spartans to their last national championship in 2000.
Many people in Flint even view the baller-turned-sports-analyst as a local hero for his time invested in the community.
But in Cleaves’ heart he’s a Flintstone – and always will be. So for Cleaves, already a member of the MSU Athletics and Michigan Sports halls of fame, it’s extra special for him to be inducted into this year’s Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame with the Class of 2013.
