Started on the offensive line for three years at the University of Nebraska. As a starting guard, helped Nebraska to the 1971 football national championship. First player signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL. A two-sport standout in high school at Bendle where he helped the Tigers earn a league football championship and reach the Class C quarterfinals in the state basketball tournament.
