The first Flint player to reach the National Basketball Association, joining the Detroit Pistons in 1973 and playing with the Kansas City Kings in 1974. Thigpen was a two-time All-Conference selection at Flint Junior College. Was the leading scorer at Weber State in 1968 and was named to the All-Conference first team in 1969 after leading Weber State to Big Sky Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
