Guzak played two seasons of football, basketball and baseball at Northern before signing a minor league baseball contract. In seven seasons of minor league baseball he batted above .300 six times, including .363 for Flint in 104 games in the Class A Michigan State League in 1941. He was the third leading scorer in Saginaw Valley Conference basketball in 1934 and captained Northern to runner up finish in 1935 State Class A basketball tournament.
