Crang was a 13-letter-winner during his four-year career at Beecher High where he was an All-State halfback in football and in track. He ran a record time of 22 seconds in the 220-yard dash, Scored 63 touchdowns in four seasons, including 20 as a senior. He led Beecher to 33-2 record during his football career including perfect 9-0 seasons in 1949 and ’52. He was recognized in “Ripley’s Believe it or Not” for scoring a perfect 500 in a physical fitness test.
