Goodell was perhaps the fastest person ever to play baseball in Flint and considered by some, the city’s best natural baseball player ever. Played minor league baseball in the Philadelphia Phillies’ system, including at Tallassee, AL, where he set an Alabama State League record with 31 home runs in 1940. He helped the Flint Indians capture the Michigan State League championship in 1941.
