A slick-gloved, strong armed infielder, he was the first Northern High graduate to sign a Major League Baseball contract. Played at the AAA level or higher almost exclusively in a 10-year professional career that included Major League stints with the Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Browns. Led the International League in fielding.
