The first black athlete to compete in the Central and Texas Leagues of professional baseball, Hoskins went on to pitch for the Cleveland Indians in the American League. He was one of the greatest players ever in Flint’s amateur city league as a pitcher, hitter and outfielder in the 1940’s.
