Considered by many to be the greatest player in Michigan State University history, tackle Coleman was a unanimous All-American. He also was selected to the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame in 1975. All-City, All-Saginaw Valley, All-State, Coleman was especially honored when his Michigan State University football jersey No. 78 was retired in 1951, the first Spartan in history. Now Dr. Coleman, Don serves on the faculty at MSU.
